Accelerated heat ageing tests estimate how rubber compounds will perform over time when exposed to elevated temperature and circulating air, simulating long-term ageing. By ageing samples under controlled temperature and airflow conditions, laboratories can compare physical properties before and after exposure to understand long-term stability and resistance to deterioration.

An ageing test is often done in conjunction with tests on hardness, tensile strength or elongation to predict durability and stability of the compound and ultimately its suitability for a given application.
