Accreditations

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). It provides a framework that helps organisations consistently deliver products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements while continually improving their processes.

What This Means ISO 9001 certification shows that an organisation has documented, repeatable processes in place to manage quality and improve performance over time.

ISO/IEC 17025 (UKAS-accredited calibration) is the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. It ensures that calibration results are technically valid, traceable to national or international standards, and produced using controlled procedures and competent personnel.

What This Means A UKAS-accredited ISO/IEC 17025 calibration demonstrates that your equipment has been calibrated by a competent laboratory with verified accuracy and traceable results that can be trusted for quality and compliance purposes.

How does ILAC work with UKAS for accreditation

UKAS and ILAC work together through international accreditation agreements to ensure that accredited calibration and testing results are accepted globally.

  • United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the UK’s national accreditation body. It assesses and accredits laboratories against standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.
  • International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) is a global organisation that manages international mutual recognition arrangements between accreditation bodies.

UKAS is a signatory to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA). This means that when a laboratory is UKAS-accredited, its calibration or test certificates are generally recognised by other ILAC-member accreditation bodies around the world, reducing the need for duplicate testing or calibration in different countries.

What this means: UKAS verifies that a laboratory is competent, and ILAC provides the international framework that allows other countries to trust and accept the results from that UKAS-accredited laboratory.

The SafeContractor scheme, operated by Alcumus, is part of the UK’s Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) and holds UKAS accreditation, ensuring its assessment process is independently verified to national standards.

What This Means You can be secure in the knowledge that our UK technicians adhere to the highest standards when they visit your site.

Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.
